Curalate helps brands convert social influence into sales. The Philadelphia-based startup makes it easy for digital-savvy consumers to make associations between products they see on social channels and where they can buy the very same products. Previously, consumers had to hunt through online catalogs on their own to find a specific product from a social image. With Curalate, products can be linked automatically to where they can be bought.
Document worth reading: “Weighted Abstract Dialectical Frameworks: Extended and Revised Report”
Abstract Dialectical Frameworks (ADFs) generalize Dung’s argumentation frameworks allowing various relationships among arguments to be expressed in a systematic way. We further generalize ADFs so as to accommodate arbitrary acceptance degrees for the arguments. This makes ADFs applicable in domains where both the initial status of arguments and their relationship are only insufficiently specified by Boolean functions. We define all standard ADF semantics for the weighted case, including grounded, preferred and stable semantics. We illustrate our approach using acceptance degrees from the unit interval and show how other valuation structures can be integrated. In each case it is sufficient to specify how the generalized acceptance conditions are represented by formulas, and to specify the information ordering underlying the characteristic ADF operator. We also present complexity results for problems related to weighted ADFs. Weighted Abstract Dialectical Frameworks: Extended and Revised Report

How feminism has made me a better scientist
Feminism is not a branch of science. It is not a set of testable propositions about the observable world, nor is it any single research method. From my own perspective, feminism is a political movement associated with successes such as votes for women, setbacks such as the failed Equal Rights Amendment, and continuing struggles in areas ranging from reproductive freedom to equality in the workplace. Feminism is also a way of looking at the world through awareness of the social and political struggles of women, historically and in the present. And others will define feminism in other ways.
