The Fubon Center for Technology, Business and Innovation (www.stern.nyu.edu/fubon) at New York University’s Stern School of Business invites applications for a position as a Fubon Center Faculty Fellow, focusing on research in data science, data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and related topics.

The Fubon Center supports, facilitates and enhances cross-disciplinary collaboration among Stern School of Business’s existing areas of excellence, including: Fintech, Data Analytics and AI, and Tech Innovation. As a new nexus for continuous innovation at Stern, the Fubon Center focuses on cutting-edge research that creates impact for business and society. The Fubon Center helps to strengthen ties to industry and also helps shape future coursework to align with a rapidly evolving business landscape. The Fubon initiatives in Fintech, Data Analytics and AI, and Tech Innovation bring together scholars, business people, and students to conduct and disseminate world-class research in each area. The Center hosts conferences, funds research projects, and engages in community outreach activities that help to make research both rigorous and accessible. In sum, our objectives are to:

Support and foster state-of-the-art research in fintech, data analytics, tech innovation, artificial intelligence, and data science for business To create synergistic collaborative relationships between scholars and practitioners across disciplinary and industry boundaries To increase the accessibility of fintech, data science, and innovation research to a wide audience

The Fubon Center Fellow is expected to be able to lead an independent, original research program in data science. Candidates with a strong technical background, such as a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related discipline, are strongly preferred.

The Fubon Center Fellow will lead an independent, original, impactful research program. They will be encouraged to develop interdisciplinary collaborations with faculty at the Stern Business School.  Successful candidates will bring a research agenda that can take advantage of the unique intellectual opportunities afforded by NYU Stern and will have experience working with researchers across different fields.

This is a full-time, research-focused, non-tenure-track position, with a light teaching load of one (1) data-science-focused course per year as the primary instructor. The Fellow will also be expected to participate in the Fubon Center’s activities (such as speaking at our conferences).

Appointment will be for two years, with a 1-year re-appointment conditional on the availability of funding and a satisfactory performance review. Fellows will be offered competitive salary and benefits, with funds to support research and travel. A start date of September 1, 2019 is envisioned.

Qualifications

The candidate PhD or be assured of its completion within one year of September 2019 and is expected to be an outstanding researcher and able to teach data science courses well at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
