Job Description

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) is establishing the Center for Predictive Analytics (C-PAN), a university wide research center consisting of collaborating SIUE faculty who utilize state-of-the-art mathematical, statistical, computational and machine learning tools and techniques to analyze data, produce predictions, and assess the probabilities of future events. C-PAN forges relationships with businesses and governmental agencies to provide analysis of the multitude of data that these organizations collect to help them craft good policy and create effective practices. We are seeking an innovative, visionary director for the center who will provide centralized leadership in establishing research and educational initiatives across academic units at SIUE. Specifically, the director will: (a) Create multidisciplinary research collaborations across the university; (b) Foster partnerships with other universities, government agencies, and industry; (c) facilitate the pursuit of external funding opportunities; (d) Educate, mentor, and provide real-world experiences to graduate students; (e) Promote the ethical uses of predictive analytics; (f) Bring together academic researchers, educators, and industry experts to share ideas through regional workshops, seminars, and conferences. The position of director is a 12-month appointment with the opportunity of tenure in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The director will report to the Associate Provost for Research.

Qualifications

A terminal degree and eligibility for rank of Associate Professor in Mathematics, Statistics, or closely related field is required, however, a full Professor in these fields is preferred. The successful candidate must have a record of working collaboratively with internal and external academic and corporate constituents. Extensive track record of successful grant writing and capability to lead institutional change processes in a university setting are also essential.

Terms of Appointment

Full-time, twelve-month appointment with the opportunity of tenure in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.  The start date for the position will be in August 2019.
