The American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine - AACOM is seeking a Data Analyst that will:

SUMMARY

Analyzes, organizes, and manages AACOM’s data infrastructure. Works collaboratively with other departments, researchers, and members to help drive innovative work. Organizes, harmonizes, and analyzes multiple data sets. Develops analytic techniques using machine learning, inferential statistics and/or other means to answer business case questions. Uses various technologies to enable data visualization, build predictive analytical models, and adds research value to the association, members, and osteopathic medicine.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:

Merges, analyzes and interprets data from multiple sources. Develops programs and scripts for data optimization, transformation, and integration.

Builds, manages, and maintains large historical datasets. Combines data to support data warehousing efforts.  Performs statistical analysis to monitor changes and discover trends.

Builds predictive models to support evidence decision making. Creates research models and tools for students, faculty, and the colleges that support undergraduate and graduate medical education. Uses data to promote osteopathic medicine and scholarly research.

Creates visually appealing and interactive data dashboard for members. Build systems that allow our members and external researchers to quickly and easily access AACOM’s public data. Promotes a self-service data culture with our members.

Develops and maintains quality control checks and project management schedules to ensure that surveys and reports are launched in a sound and timely manner.

Maintains collaborative data sharing and reporting relationships with external researchers/organizations; specifically, the American Osteopathic Association and the Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation.

Drafts correspondence, summary reports, and similar papers as needed in performance of duties and for the Director of Research, the Senior Vice President for Medical Education and Research, and others.

As a member of the Research department, serves as key role in other research activities and initiatives.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:**

At least 2 years of research related experience required.

Data science skills required.

This position requires basic proficiency in databases and development, such as MySQL, SQL, Python, or similar programming languages, as well as Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.

Knowledge of research protocols, organizing data, and performing analyses. Experience in a statistical analysis software required, Stata, Python, R or SPSS is preferred.

Ability to generate compelling visuals using Tableau as well as other reporting tools is desired.

Two to three years of experience is preferred in planning, executing, and distributing quantitative reports and analyses. Experience with complex relational databases is required.

Knowledge of higher education and experience working with diverse stakeholders, partners, contractors, consultants, and vendors is preferred.

Strong writing skills, verbal skills, presentation skills, and attention to detail are expected.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mainly deskwork utilizing computer and telephone.  Occasional pushing, lifting, and moving over 20 pounds.  Up to 20% of time for domestic travel, as well as day seminars and meetings away from the office.
